Help With Medicare Part D
....................................................................................................................................................
As
of Jan. 1, 2006, if you are Medicare-eligible, you are able to use
Medicare to obtain prescription drugs.
This is called Medicare Part D.
Participants had until May 16, 2006, to join Medicare Part D without
paying a higher premium.
How to Access Medicare Part D
If you are eligible for Medicare, you may get prescription drug
coverage through:
¢
A Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug Plan (MAPD) which provides ALL
Medicare-covered services including prescription drug coverage plus
other
additional benefits
¢
A stand-alone prescription drug plan (PDP) which provides only
prescription drug coverage. Individuals who choose this option
would keep
their original Medicare coverage.
¢
St. John’s PremierPlus members are already enrolled in a Medicare
Advantage Plan and automatically have Medicare prescription drug
coverage as of Jan. 1, 2006.
St. John’s Seniors operates a CLAIM site,
which is a volunteer-based program developed to assist seniors with
their insurance claims. Trained volunteers can answer Medicare
recipients’ questions about coverage and help recipients apply for the
discount cards.
Please call the CLAIM (Community Leaders
Assisting the Insured of Missouri) line at 1-800-390-3330 to set up an
appointment.
